In order to remedy the horrible situation, we decided to "borrow an idea we saw on Pinterest" (as most modern art stories pathetically begin.) First, we went to Wal-Mart at midnight and picked up handfuls of free paint swatches. Zero customers roamed the paint swatches vicinity at that hour, so we avoided any judgmental stares. Next, we purchased sticky tack (I forget the brand name, but the tack was dark blue) and a mini chalkboard.
The next night, Madi and I ordered some Hawaiian pizza, spread our paint chips on the floor, and began to attach the chips to the door. We knew that we wanted to follow a pattern similar to the rainbow, but we struggled to transition from color to color. Fortunately, our friend Ashlyn popped into our room just in the nick of time. Ashlyn is brilliantly creative, majors in Graphic Design, and is an all-around awesome person in general. She helped us settle on a color scheme, arrange swatches, and hang swatches on even the highest part of the door (did I mention that Ashlyn is really, really, really tall?)

After two hours, 10 slices of Hawaiian pizza, a million laughs, and a few breaks for heart-to-heart conversations, we finished our project. We had an absolute blast decorating the door and loved the result! =) Colorful, crazy, and happy... as life should be!
Next artsy dorm project? Stay tuned...
